Following an injury-shortened junior season at Marcus High School (Flower Mound, TX), four-star quarterback Colton Nussmeier and his family made the move to the Denton area, where he would play at Ryan High School for his senior season.Because of that move, Nussmeier was ruled ineligible for his senior season by a 3-3 District Executive Committee vote on Tuesday morning, June 16. While there was a tie in the vote, the decision came down to the Prior Athletic Participation Form that stated Nussmeier transferred to Denton for athletic purposes.Nussmeier can appeal the ruling with the University Interscholastic League.The younger brother of former LSU standout quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, Colton had been experiencing a memorable June before the decision was handed out. He recently competed in the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles and also announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs on June 5.Colton is ranked as the No. 200 overall prospect, the No. 12 quarterback and the No. 34 player out of Texas, according to 247Sports.Last season he completed 60% of his passes for 1,390 yards and 12 touchdowns with only one interception. He also ran the ball 45 times for 278 yards and three more touchdowns before a knee injury ended his season only eight games in.Nussmeier is the latest high-profile name in the Texas high school football scene to be ruled ineligible for his senior season. Five-star cornerback John Meredith III was also ruled ineligible over the weekend after an 11-6 district executive committee meeting vote ruled his move from Euless Trinity to Fort Worth North Crowley in January was for athletic purposes.
