The man disappeared on Thursday, and a search operation was launched the following day by the National Maritime Authority. Portuguese police confirmed on Tuesday that a body, believed to be that of the missing individual, was recovered from the sea off Albufeira. The alert for the discovery was raised by a fisherman, leading to the mobilisation of local maritime police, firefighters, and civil protection services. The body was transported to the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, and the British Consulate in Portimao was informed of the incident.
