There is no security in the OSCE area, and the organization must fundamentally revise its operating principles in order to effectively respond to security threats, as Russian aggression and Moscow’s abuse of the consensus rule are paralyzing the OSCE.
This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on the social network X, as reported by Ukrinform.
Sybiha said he began his opening address at the Annual OSCE Security Review Conference by naming three former Ukrainian employees of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission – Maxim Petrov, Dmytro Shabanov, and Vadym Golda – who have been held in Russian captivity since 2022.
“This is a disgrace for the OSCE. Because if a security organization cannot guarantee the security of its own staff, then this organization is doing something fundamentally wrong,” the Ukrainian Foreign Minister stressed.
He added that Ukraine has every right to demand that the OSCE protect its employees and secure their release.
