China is accelerating preparations for the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, and welcomes all parties to join in promoting AI for good, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday.
He made the remarks at a news conference marking the release of a white paper titled "More Just and Equitable Global Governance: China's Principles, Proposals and Actions".
Asked about China's efforts to strengthen global AI governance, Zhou Haibing, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission, said China, in upholding multilateralism, as well as openness and inclusiveness, has actively promoted global AI governance and international cooperation, and continued to contribute Chinese proposals to global development in the intelligent era.
China will host the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai in July, he said, adding that the country looks forward to working with relevant parties to further strengthen international cooperation on AI.
Zhou said China put forward the Global AI Governance Initiative and supports the United Nations in playing the role of the main channel in global AI governance.
