Mercedes are preparing to introduce new "rules of engagement" for George Russell and Kimi Antonelli after their increasingly fierce on-track battles cost the team valuable points and victory this past weekend.
The Silver Arrows have long prided themselves on allowing their drivers to race freely, but team principal Toto Wolff has hinted that their philosophy may need adjusting after the latest clash between his two stars at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Russell and Antonelli found themselves locked in another intense wheel-to-wheel battle as they chased down eventual race winner Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari. While the duel thrilled F1 fans, it left Wolff far less impressed.
The fight allowed Hamilton to stretch his advantage out front, kept McLaren's Lando Norris behind them keen, while also damaging Antonelli front wing during the overtake before later retiring with reliability issues.
