A Nigerian mother and her three sons were “immediately” sent to Nigeria after landing on South African shores on February 26.

A Nigerian mother and her three sons, who fled from South Africa to Ireland after an alleged attack by a gun-wielding gang, were deported to South Africa.

However, Home Affairs Minister Dr Leon Schreiber revealed that they were “immediately” sent to Nigeria after landing on South African shores on February 26.

In a recent parliamentary response on the case, which sparked a protest and grabbed headlines in Ireland, Schreiber said the family was among 63 deportees who had arrived on a chartered flight from Ireland.

Stephen Kirwan, partner and head of immigration at KOD Lyons, who represented the family in Ireland, said Titilayo Oluwakemi Oyekanmi and her three sons, aged five to eighteen, were deported from Ireland after their asylum application and subsequent appeal were refused.
