What Happened

The maintainer of rsync used Claude to co-author dozens of commits for a new release. Not a few AI-inspired changes. Hundreds.

The update caused issues with essential features. They used AI to rewrite the test suite, which resulted in a new version release, rsync 3.4.3, shortly after. Unfortunately, that update included a major bug that stopped a few users from being able to create backups.
