The German defense company Hensoldt and the Ukrainian company Fire Point have signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the joint integration of components into the FREYJA ground-based air defense system, designed to detect and intercept ballistic missiles.
This was reported by Ukrinform, citing a Hensoldt press release.
"HENSOLDT and Fire Point, a leading Ukrainian defence-tech company developing and producing combat-proven UAV and missile systems for modern precision warfare, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Eurosatory trade show in Paris. The aim of the agreement is the joint integration of field-proven and available components into a Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) system capable of detecting and intercepting ballistic missiles,” the statement said.
Under the terms of the agreement, Hensoldt will be responsible for the production, testing, and delivery of radar systems for the missile defense system, as well as supporting their integration into the system.
The TRML-4D radar is set to play a key role in the system; according to the company, it “has proven its effectiveness in service in recent years” and, thanks to its software adaptability, “is ideally suited for the planned application in the missile defense system.”
