British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Wednesday he would fight any leadership challenge, adding that he ‌believed any such contest would be "a bad thing" for the country. Former British health minister Wes Streeting told the BBC on Tuesday he would be prepared to ‌trigger a Labour leadership contest to replace Keir Starmer as prime minister as soon as next week. "If there is a challenge, I intend to fight in any challenge to my leadership," Starmer ‌told the BBC at the G7 summit in Evian, France. "I don't think there should be a challenge, because I think that is a bad thing for the country."
