Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic The Odyssey is set to make history with its first-ever premiere in India, as Mumbai has been selected as an official stop on the film’s global promotional tour.Universal Pictures International announced that Nolan will attend the Mumbai premiere this July, marking the filmmaker’s first visit to India for a film launch. He will be joined by stars Matt Damon and Tom Holland, as well as Oscar-winning producer Emma Thomas.The Mumbai event places India alongside major international premiere cities including London, Paris and New York. The premiere will take place at PVR Icon IMAX at Phoenix Palladium in Mumbai ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical release on July 17.Written and directed by Nolan, The Odyssey adapts Homer’s legendary epic poem chronicling Odysseus’ perilous decade-long journey home following the fall of Troy. The film marks Nolan’s return after the success of Oppenheimer, which won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.The project is also a technological milestone. Shot entirely with IMAX cameras using newly developed technology, The Odyssey is being billed as the first feature film ever captured completely in the IMAX format.The ensemble cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. Nolan and Emma Thomas are producing the film through their banner Syncopy.The India premiere is expected to be among the most significant Hollywood events ever staged in the country, bringing one of contemporary cinema’s most celebrated filmmakers to Mumbai for the first time.Advance bookings for IMAX screenings of The Odyssey are already open across India, with anticipation for Nolan’s latest spectacle running high among moviegoers.
