JD Vance Says Iran Deal Will Be Good If It ‘Actually Comes To Fruition’During an appearance on Fox News, Vice President JD Vance did not reveal much about the terms of the agreement between the U.S. and Iran that will supposedly end the war. However, he did give one example, saying that the U.S. would need to approve investments by third-party nations in Iranian power plants.“If this deal actually comes to fruition, meaning if the Iranians comply with it, we have transformed the Middle East in a way that is amazingly beneficial for both the American people, but also the people of the Gulf,” Vance said. The vice president is currently on a press tour to promote his new book, “Communion: Finding My Way Back To Faith.”Latest Live UpdatesSenate Republicans Block War Powers Measure For 9th TimeSenate Republicans on Tuesday narrowly blocked Democrats’ war powers measure for the ninth time, two days after Trump announced an agreement between the US and Iran to end the war. The vote was 48-47, with four Republicans voting with Democrats and one Democrat (Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania) joining Republicans. The measure would force President Donald Trump to get approval for the war in Iran and withdraw troops until that approval comes.“I am hopeful that this war may come to an end beginning this week, but let’s be clear: This temporary truce agreement with Iran brings us back to the status quo, at best,” Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.), who introduced the resolution in April, said ahead of the vote on Tuesday, The New York Times reported. “We’ve learned, due in part to recent history, that it’s easier to get into a war than it is to get out.”Thousands Back Effort To Ban Unauthorized AI Images, Videos16,000+—That’s how many people signed SAG-AFTRA’s open letter demanding that Congress pass the Support the Nurture Originals, Foster Art, and Keep Entertainment Safe (NO FAKES) Act, Variety reported. The bill aims to protect Americans’ names and images from being used to create AI-generated deepfakes.“In this new era of AI, bad actors are quickly and easily profiting from the creativity of others. Our laws must catch up,” Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.) said in a press release. “The NO FAKES Act is simple and sacred: you own your identity—not Big Tech, not scammers, not algorithms. Deepfakes are digital lies that ruin real lives, and it’s time to fight back.”Key MomentSeveral Closely Watched Races Are Being Decided Today. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and others in high public office are all among them.Wired did not immediately provide a list of all 222 names. The conference, held in Dublin, is reportedly scheduled for August 12-16 and organized by controversial right-wing billionaire Peter Thiel, an ally of President Donald Trump, as part of his "Dialogue Society."The programming seems to reflect a spirit of paranoia and cynicism toward the future. Sessions reportedly include “Money (Does?) The Obama Library Opening Is Doing Just Fine. While President Donald Trump has fumed over music acts dropping out of his planned festival for America's 250th birthday, former President Barack Obama has a stacked lineup for the opening of his library. Here are the musical acts planning to perform at the Obama Presidential Center opening on June 19th:The RootsBruce SpringsteenChristina AguileraCommonEddie VedderJennifer HudsonJohn LegendStevie WonderMarc AnthonyTemsU2's Bono and The EdgeActress and producer Marsai MartinAlbanians Still Angrily Protesting Ivanka And Jared’s Nature-Crushing Luxury Resort ProjectThe Albanian protests sparked by opposition to a resort project with ties to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner entered their sixteenth day on Tuesday — and they do not seem to be petering out anytime soon.As the first daughter told the story in a podcast interview earlier this month, she and her family were on a friend’s yacht in the Mediterranean when they encountered a pristine island, which turned out to be a nature preserve home to flamingos and endangered monk seals. They swam ashore and were apparently inspired to bulldoze it to build a vacation spot for wealthy tourists. The plans have been in the works for years, but Trump’s bizarre and out-of-touch interview struck a nerve. She referred to miles of Albanian land as belonging to herself and her husband.Thousands of protesters have been turning out to demand the resignation of Albania’s prime minister, Edi Rama, accusing their leadership of selling out the country. They say that the luxury resort would destroy the natural habitats of native birds and other wildlife species.Protesters fill the streets on June 14 to demand accountability for allowing President Donald Trump's family to build a luxury resort on a pristine Albanian island.1/22/2Feds Detail Alleged Plot To Strike White House With Explosive Drones At UFC EventThe FBI released new details Tuesday about an alleged plot to use explosive drones to target the White House during Sunday's UFC event.Five defendants have been charged in connection with the alleged plot: Tycen Proper of Ohio, Daniel Eskridge of Missouri, Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez of Nebraska, and Bryan Omar Roa and Michael Alan Thomas of California. Fox News initially reported that the alleged plans included using drones to attack buildings near the White House and guide panicked crowds to a pre-positioned sniper team.Proper, 19, had "recently acquired camping gear, food, ballistic plates, a new shotgun, a rifle, 'lots' of ammunition, extra magazines, and plate carriers," according to a criminal complaint against him.All five suspects have each been charged with at least one count of conspiracy to commit murder. JD Vance Has Testy On-Air Exchange With ‘View’ HostsVice President JD Vance’s new memoir serves as a preamble to a potential 2028 presidential bid, with the Republican reflecting on his faith and political career — and how he sees the former informing the latter.“Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith” hits shelves Tuesday, almost exactly 10 years after the release of “Hillbilly Elegy,” Vance’s memoir about growing up in Appalachia that catapulted him to national recognition while he was still a private citizen working at a venture capital firm. Now he’s the sitting vice president, and the most widely speculated 2028 presidential contender in either political party. The vice president joined "The View" as part of his media tour to promote the book, where he was pressed on a myriad of topics and clashed with hosts on the Trump administration's aggressive immigration crackdown."We do have to strike a balance of course between enforcing our laws. We don't want to dehumanize people, that is the balance... Law enforcement is always inherently not a very pretty process," Vance said.Pressed by host Sunny Hostin about the detention of migrants without criminal records and separation of families, Vance deflected and instead pointed to the Biden administration and data tied to immigration-related sex and human trafficking — a claim that experts have said is misleading. "Unless you enforce the border, you invite that kind of conduct. You think that our immigration policies are inhumane based on the reporting of one person with a political bias," Vance said. "What I'm telling you is that it's inhumane to allow cartels to sex traffic people across the border."Read more on Vance's book here.15 People Charged For Allegedly Impeding Federal Immigration Enforcement In MinnesotaThe Justice Department announced charges against 15 people for allegedly "violently" impeding federal immigration enforcement in Minnesota. The 15 people, who the Justice Department alleges are part of anti-fascist groups, are charged with a variety of crimes, including conspiracy to impede or injure federal officers, solicitation to commit a crime of violence, interstate threats, interstate stalking, assault on a federal officer and destruction of government property.Twelve of the 15 people were arrested Tuesday and two remain at large. One person was already arrested for previous charges. "Today's charges and arrests reflect a broad federal effort to address organized lawless behavior, which seeks to disrupt the execution of federal law, endanger law enforcement and importantly, endanger the very communities these defendants falsely claim to be protecting," U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen said Tuesday at a news conference. Federal Judge Blocks Idaho’s Punitive Bathroom LawA federal judge has temporarily blocked Idaho from enforcing one the nation’s most punitive laws banning transgender people from public restrooms.Earlier this year, Republican Gov. Brad Little signed a law that threatens transgender people with up to five years in prison for using a bathroom consistent with their gender identity in both government-owned and private businesses. The law, H.B. 752, was set to go into effect on July 1, but today’s ruling protects trans people’s access to restrooms in the state while legal proceedings continue. In April, a group of six transgender Idahoans challenged the law, alleging that it could open the door to arrest or harassment every time they need to use the bathroom in public, or cause them to avoid restrooms altogether. "This ruling means trans folks in Idaho can continue participating in public life without the threat of being arrested for using the bathroom,” ACLU of Idaho Legal Director Paul Carlos Southwick said in a statement. “Trans Idahoans have been understandably anxious about the disruption this unconstitutional law would cause in their daily lives. This ruling will relieve that anxiety for our trans friends and neighbors,” he added. See All UpdatesRelatedlive updates
