When President Donald Trump uttered the words “I love the inflation” last week, he gave a four-word gift to Democrats. But Vice President JD Vance argued in a Tuesday television interview that those four words were being taken out of context.
“What he said is that he loves the fact that the inflation is going to come down when this war is over. That’s what he said,” Vance said in an appearance on ABC show “The View.”
One of the show’s co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg, quickly responded, “That’s not what he said.”
We went back and reviewed Trump’s full remarks from the event in which he said “I love the inflation.” The video shows that Goldberg was correct: Trump didn’t say what Vance claimed he did.
However, the video also shows that Vance wasn’t making up his defense out of thin air. Vance was explaining what the president might possibly have been intending to say in one of his many unfinished sentences that day – rather than, as Vance claimed on “The View,” actually recounting what Trump had said.
