BJP MLA Satish Upadhyay, who took charge as Vice Chairman (VC) of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on Tuesday (June 16, 2026) said they will work on a “mission mode” to clean the Yamuna river and fix other challenges.“The BJP saved the people of Delhi from the AAP-da (disastrous AAP rule). Yamuna, sewerage system, and water supply, these are basic issues of the people. It will be duty of our team to understand these issues and fix them,” Mr. Upadhyay said. He said that people’s aspirations cannot be met with old working styles and the DJB has to adopt to the times. There will be zero tolerance to corruption and works will be completed in a time-bound manner, he added. The VC also said that a mega public grievance redressal camp would be organised soon to swiftly resolve all issues concerning Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and the general public. To ensure prompt and effective redressal of citizens’ grievances, the DJB will actively participate in public welfare camps organised at 39 designated locations across Delhi from June 18 to June 20, where complaints related to water supply, sewerage, and water billing will be addressed.Mr. Upadhyay said that to modernise water quality monitoring, a state-of-the-art pilot project utilizing online sensor-based technology for 24x7 real-time water quality testing has been launched in Gulmohar Park and upon its success, the initiative will be expanded to other areas in the future. The online sensor system ensures 24x7 continuous monitoring of key water quality parameters such as residual chlorine, turbidity, pH, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). Unlike traditional manual sampling methods, this system provides real-time data, enabling engineers to instantly identify fluctuations in water quality and take necessary corrective actions, as per the DJB.
