Former AS Trenčín goalkeeper Vozinha frustrated Spain as Cabo Verde claimed the first World Cup point in its history.

Former AS Trenčín goalkeeper Vozinha helped Cabo Verde hold European champions Spain to a goalless draw at the World Cup on Monday, earning the African nation the first point in its history at the tournament.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper was one of the standout performers in Atlanta, making a series of saves as Spain failed to score despite registering 27 attempts on goal.

For Slovak football followers, the result capped a remarkable turnaround for a player who was rebuilding his career when he arrived in Trenčín in 2023 after a serious injury and a six-month spell without a club.

His former goalkeeping coach at Trenčín, Maroš Ferenc, recalled that Vozinha initially struggled after joining the club following the lengthy lay-off.
