After a video of a 24-year-old married woman’s allegations of rape, blackmail and extortion went viral, the Nagpur Police filed a First Information Report and arrested two accused. The case was filed after the survivor stated that the accused took her to some place in Madhya Pradesh and tried to convert and marry her, said police officer Rahul Tasare from the Sonegaon station on Tuesday, where the case was registered. According to the police, the case had been registered against three persons on June 12 under the Sections related to rape, extortion of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Anti-Black Magic Act.“Two of the accused have been arrested, and a search is on for the third accused in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara. We have also collected digital evidence from mobile phones and are analysing the videos,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Rushikesh Singareddy, adding there was a possibility of more survivors coming forward as the incident was a year old. The two arrested are: Ayyaj Taj Madare (26), and Aamin Sheikh (30), while Hazrat Maulana is absconding. Police said the woman, in her statement, claimed that one of the accused, whom she knew from school, sedated her and recorded “objectionable videos”. The survivor had alleged that the accused used the video to extort her. The accused extorted around ₹3 lakh from her, the woman said. Published - June 17, 2026 02:57 am IST
