At the G7 Summit, President Donald Trump renewed his criticism of Israel’s strategy against Hezbollah in Lebanon, saying “too many people are being killed.”
Iran’s foreign minister has insisted that any peace deal requires Israel to withdraw from Lebanon. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has explicitly rejected the idea, refusing to pull back from what he calls “security zones”.
As we’ve reported, Israel has invaded Lebanon, and marked a “yellow line” – an area of occupation that it claims it needs for internal security. Within that line, Lebanese towns and villages have been demolished and thousands forced to flee.
