June 16 (UPI) -- A Michigan man who forgot to give a store clerk his usual instructions ended up winning a $1.05 million jackpot thanks to his accidental omission.

The 68-year-old Oakland County man told Michigan Lottery officials he regularly plays Fast Cash games, but he usually gives store clerks specific instructions.

"When I buy Fast Cash tickets, I hand the cashier money and tell them to give me any of the Fast Cash games, but lately I've been saying: 'Any except the Detroit Lions game,' because I hadn't been having luck with it," the man said.

He forgot to add that last part when he stopped at the Speedway gas station on Pontiac Trail in South Lyon.
