The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 is an Android tablet that’s clearly made for media consumption. It has a 12.1 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel, 120 Hz display with up to 800 nits brightness and support for Dolby Vision and HDR 10. And there’s also a massive speaker on the back. In fact, Lenovo says this tablet actually has 9 JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos sound.
Liliputing first broke news about this tablet when it won an IF Design Guide Award earlier this year. Now Lenovo has officially launched the tablet, saying the Tab Plus Gen 2 will be available soon in select markets for $400 and up.
With a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor and at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (or support for up to 12GB + 256GB on higher-priced models) the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 has decent specs for a mid-range Android tablet.
But its stand out feature is clearly the speaker system, which Lenovo says is a “Cinematic Audio System with Dedicated Bass Units.” Thanks to a Bluetooth speaker mode, you can even pair the speaker with other devices, allowing you to play music from your hone or other devices. Overall it’s tough to say whether this is an Android tablet with a high-quality speaker, or a portable speaker that just happens to have a tablet built in.
