Most people’s weddings don’t make it onto the radar of a city’s mayor, but Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are not most people. And in a press conference on Monday (June 15), Mayor Zohran Mamdani seemingly confirmed reports that the couple will tie the knot in New York City on Fourth of July weekend while discussing public safety amid major events.
While addressing reporters, the progressive NYC mayor was asked about his plans to ensure a safe environment on July 5, when FIFA is set to take over Met Life Stadium in nearby East Rutherford, N.J., for a match. “I am fully confident in the work of the NYPD as well as our state partners in delivering that safe experience,” Mamdani said. “We are the biggest city in the country. We are used to big events and we are incredibly excited for this one.”
