Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Tuesday, June 16, that as of yesterday morning, “the war has officially ended on all fronts,” and the first phase of the agreement between Iran and the opposing parties has been finalized. He also stated that a new round of negotiations between Iran and the United States will begin this Friday in Switzerland.
Speaking to a gathering of foreign chargés d’affaires and ambassadors residing in Tehran, Araghchi emphasized that any Israeli attack on Lebanon would be viewed by Tehran as a “violation of the agreement.” He claimed that this framework places Iran and Hezbollah on one side, and the United States and Israel on the other.
According to him, “the termination of the war encompasses the termination of the occupation,” and without the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the end of the war will not be complete. Araghchi added that the first phase of the agreement was finalized after three months of negotiations and went into effect on Monday morning, Tehran time.
He noted that the official implementation of the agreement will begin on Friday. These remarks come at a time when Israel continues to insist on maintaining its troop presence in disputed areas, while Hezbollah has reported ongoing clashes.
