A United States immigration court has reportedly granted permanent residency to Ghana’s former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, according to a statement issued by his legal team.

His lawyers said he was later arrested by U.S. immigration authorities in January over “the status of his current stay,” rather than issues related to his legal troubles in Ghana.
