A Russian warship has reportedly fired shots at a British yacht in the English Channel.
No one on board the yacht was harmed,The i Paper understands. The incident occurred around 11.40am on Tuesday, and is understood to have involved the Russian frigate Admiral Grigorovich in the sea between the Isle of White and Normandy.
Military insiders suggested this was not being read as an attack on the UK, but it marks the latest escalation in Russia-UK relations.

It comes after British forces boarded a Russian shadow fleet tanker, the Smyrtos, in the Channel on Monday. The MoD said the vessel was being used to transport oil funding the war in Ukraine.
