HYDERABADDeputy Floor Leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in the Assembly T. Harish Rao alleged that the State government is playing with the future of about 30 lakh students by delaying the release of ₹19,000 crore fee reimbursement, due to which the college managements were denying degree and post-graduate certificates even after completion of courses.Speaking at a party meeting held at Alganur in Manakondur constituency of Karimnagar district on Tuesday, he stated that the BRS government had released ₹19,500 crore towards fee reimbursement scheme in nine-and-a-half years, including two Covid-affected years, demonetisation and other hurdles. The Congress government that assumed office in December 2023, however, did not pay anything towards fee reimbursement. At the same time, the government had been clearing bills of contractors regularly for ‘10% to 15% commissions’ since release of fee reimbursement dues to benefit SC, ST and BC students’ education would not get anything for those holding positions in the government, Mr. Harish Rao said. Regarding Rythu Bandhu/Bharosa, he said the Congress government had denied ₹19,000 crore for three seasons.Further, farm loan waiver remained incomplete and enhanced social security pensions still remain a mirage. In case of unemployed youth too, the government had filled just 16,000 jobs against the promise of filling 2 lakh jobs in the first calendar year itself (2024). Published - June 16, 2026 08:39 pm IST
