June 16 (UPI) -- Kiki's Delivery Service will come to life once more as a live-action series.
Deadline reported Tuesday that BBC Studios will co-develop the first live-action TV adaptation of the Eiko Kadono children's fantasy book series with Wheel in Motion and Kadokawa Corporation.
Previously adapted as a beloved 1989 animated film from Studio Ghibli and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, Kiki's Delivery Service follows Kiki, a young witch who moves to the port town of Koriko with her cat, Jiji.
Variety said Irena Brignull (The Boxtrolls, The Little Prince) will write the new series, which is expected to consist of 10 half-hour episodes.
