Verizon is today introducing some big changes to its cellular plans, including a “Simplicity” offer that strips away the clutter, while also introducing some new loyalty rewards for existing customers.

Most carriers are happy to offer huge incentives for new customers while leaving its best offers off the table for existing subscribers – sometimes jacking up rates for those customers in the meantime. Verizon’s new loyalty program at least looks like a way to reward customers who stick with the carrier long-term, sort of.

There are three components here.

Firstly, Verizon is doing away with activation and upgrade fees for those who opt-in to the “Verizon Loyalty” program. Beyond that, “Verizon Dollars” is a cash-back-esque offer that lets customers rack up value that can be used “for devices, accessories or up to 5x for each Verizon Dollar from top brands including Sephora, Hilton, Marriott, Starbucks and more.” Essentially, the longer you pay your Verizon bill, the more rewards you collect and can cash in for actual items. Finally, “Verizon Shine” is a giveaway program that includes sweepstakes for “all-expense paid experiences” as well as daily drops that can include freebies at places such as Dunkin Donuts, TopGolf, Starbucks, Amazon, and more.
