As part of a rally to be held at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on June 20 to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the electoral rolls, an anti-SIR public awareness march was taken out at Gandhi Circle in Yadgir on Monday.Speaking at the march, leader of Eddelu Karnataka J.M. Veerasangaiah said that through SIR an attempt is being made to deprive lakhs of eligible voters across the country of their constitutional right to vote.The Election Commission should take action to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls in Karnataka, he said.District coordinator of Eddelu Karnataka Mareppa Chatterkar said that the SIR process is a development that threatens the basic values of democracy and that people need to fight to protect the rights of voters.Earlier, following a press conference, the public awareness march commenced from Gandhi Circle and concluded at Subhas Circle.
