Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that efforts should be made to organize a meeting for peace negotiations with Russia before the onset of winter and that Ukraine is prepared to consider a neutral venue for such talks.

President Volodymyr Zelensky made the remarks during a virtual appearance at the Reuters Next conference, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He said he had earlier proposed using the G7 Summit in France to facilitate contacts with Russia and had discussed the idea with the Summit host, French President Emmanuel Macron.

“He was supportive of the idea. But the Russians did not respond. They did not support it,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader added that the United States had also been informed of the proposal.
