Work will be executed in about a month to revamp the old sewage pumping station at Vivekananda Nagar in Korattur. An odour control unit will be installed at the facility as a public health measure.A press release said preliminary work was in progress to revamp the sewage pumping station, with a sewage handling capacity of 3.5 million litres a day. Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) Managing Director T. Anand inspected the facility on Tuesday (June 16, 2026). He also reviewed the operation of the 42-mld Korattur sewage pumping station, which has been automated with internet of things. Mr. Anand directed the CMWSSB personnel to ensure the use of safety equipment while carrying out works at the sewage pumping station, the press release said.
