Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed defense support for Ukraine, including strengthening the country’s air defense capabilities, during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the sidelines of the G7–Ukraine meeting.

The Ukrainian leader shared details of the meeting on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“A good meeting with Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz in Évian. We discussed defense support for Ukraine, above all the further strengthening of our air defense, the situation on the frontline, and the results of Ukraine’s long-range sanctions,” Zelensky said.

According to the President, the two leaders also discussed ways to implement the agreements reached during the G7–Ukraine meeting held earlier in the day.

“It is important that Ukraine’s effectiveness on the battlefield and in its long-range capabilities be complemented by effective global pressure on Russia,” he noted.
