For more than two years, Christopher “Chris” Francisco quietly followed a routine that many people in his hometown did not fully understand.

The 32-year-old from Balete, Aklan, would often ask neighbours and acquaintances for just ₱5 at a time, politely declining larger amounts.

To some, it seemed unusual.

To Chris, it was part of a carefully planned mission.

By 2022, he had accumulated enough savings to purchase 160 boxes of crayons, which he personally donated to pupils at Calizo Elementary School and students at Calizo National High School.
