The Lagos State government has announced a temporary closure and diversion of vehicular traffic from the entire section of Iddo Bridge as the ongoing reconstruction of the bridge reaches a critical stage.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the state Commissioner for Transportation, in a statement on Tuesday, said the closure will take effect as follows: “Wednesday, 17 June 2026 – from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (7 hours), and Sunday, June 21, 2026 – from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (8 hours).
“The Lagos State Government wishes to inform the motoring public that the Federal Ministry of Works will commence the installation of heavy steel bridge beams as part of the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of Iddo Bridge in Ijora, Apapa Local Government Area.
Consequently, the entire section of Iddo Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement during the periods stated above to ensure the safe installation of the steel beams on the bridge,” he said.
To ease traffic movement, the government advised motorists to use alternative routes.
