As the carrier says 2G will be phased out from 2029
Vodafone Greece has launched its commercial 5G Standalone (5G SA) network.
The carrier announced last week that the network has gone live in Patras, and will expand to Athens and Thessaloniki in the coming months.

5G SA is a network that is not reliant on older mobile generations and solely uses a 5G core network.
The network offers improved speeds and lower latency for customers, with Vodafone noting that this can lead to increased battery life and greater reliability.
The new company will operate in the wholesale provision of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network services in Greece.
