The governor claimed that Trump's actions were politically motivated and tied to speculation that he could seek the presidency in the future.

The California Governor, Gavin Newsom, has accused the United States President, Donald Trump, of using federal agencies and the Department of Justice to target him, his family, friends and former associates for political reasons, alleging that the investigations are motivated by fears that he may run for president in the future.

Newsom made this known in a video posted on his X account and obtained by SaharaReporters, where he described Trump as "the most corrupt president in American history" and accused him of weaponising the machinery of government against perceived political opponents.

According to the California governor, federal agents have recently been approaching people connected to him, not because any crime had been discovered, but in an attempt to find evidence that could be used against him.

"In recent days, federal agents have knocked on the doors of family, friends, and former employees. Not because they found a crime, because they're simply trying to find one. They're demanding records," Newsom said.
