Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, said on Monday that the political process is an internal Sudanese matter that must take place inside the country and be driven by the will of the Sudanese people. He added that Sudan welcomes any support aimed at achieving stability, peace and development, provided it respects the country’s sovereignty.
His remarks came during a meeting with European Union ambassadors accredited to Sudan in the capital, Khartoum, according to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA).
Al-Burhan briefed the diplomats on the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), referring to what he described as violations and atrocities committed by the RSF against civilians.
He reiterated that any political process must be conducted within Sudan and based on the will of the Sudanese people, while welcoming positive international support that contributes to efforts to achieve stability, peace and development.
