Chinese car brands are expanding at a ferocious rate in Britain.Buyers are flocking to cheaper prices, premium looks and interiors, smart tech and low running costs that models from brands including MG, Jaecoo and BYD offer.At the start of the year, Chinese carmakers had taken over as much as 20 per cent of the UK car market in just a four-year period.Autotrader predicts that by the end of 2026 there will be 80 brands to choose from - up from 50 in 2019.It's not just the number of Chinese brands that is expanding; so too are their dealer networks and aftersales offerings, so they can compete with established European brands.But once you've got the keys to your shiny new Chinese car, what then? What dealer and servicing infrastructure is in place to maintain and service your car? And - most importantly - will the aftersales experience look after you?We've looked at the dealer and retail networks key Chinese car brands have built since their arrival, and what peace of mind is offered to you, the driver.MG now has 180 dealers and promises that its fully-trained and certified MG technicians only use MG genuine parts for peace of mindMGMG is perhaps the best-known Chinese brand in the UK because it's a heritage marque owned by a Chinese car giant, rather than a straight-up newcomer.SAIC, one of China's 'big four' automakers, bought MG in 2007 and renamed it MG Motor UK in 2009.MG now has 180 dealers and promises that its fully trained and certified technicians only use genuine MG parts for peace of mind.MG also offers a service plan that covers MOTs, although MOTs will need to be added as an additional item when selecting your plan. When your car is serviced at a franchised dealer, its service history is added to MG's national database, enhancing resale value.As an additional bonus, if you take your car for a service at your local MG dealer, you will receive 12 months' MG Roadside Assistance, provided by the AA.How long are MG warranties?MG offers a comprehensive seven-year manufacturer warranty (for any new MG registered on or after 1 September 2019). The Chery Group has established four brands in the UK, despite having launched in Britain less than two years ago. It's retail network is expanding at pace tooChery/Omoda/Jaecoo/LepasSister brands Omoda and Jaecoo arrived in the UK in August 2024 and January 2025 respectively.As two of the fastest-growing automotive brands in the UK, one Omoda or Jaecoo model is sold every 83 seconds, according to the company.The two brands now have a 124-strong UK retailer network.Chery, the own brand of Chery International - which owns Omoda and Jaecoo - arrived in summer 2025. It now has over 80 retailers. The company recently launched a fourth brand - Lepas - which will also have its own network.Chery brands have partnered with major groups such as Arnold Clark, Listers and Sytner to grow at scale and establish this kind of dealer network so rapidly.Chery encourages customers to use its network for servicing and maintenance because it ensures 'your car is serviced and maintained to the highest standards, without the worry of additional costs', with genuine Chery parts. Your full service history will also be recorded to benefit future resale value.It also offers a complimentary vehicle wash and vacuum, software updates and full vehicle health checks.The Chery service schedule is either 36 months or 30,000 miles, whichever comes first.How long are Chery/Omoda/Jaecoo/Lepas warranties?Chery, Omoda and Jaecoo all offer a seven-year warranty or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) for every new car in their line-ups.However, This is Money and Warrantywise recently revealed that some parts are only covered under Jaecoo's policy for three years or 40,000 miles, including the infotainment unit and exhaust system. BYD grew its network to 132 lives sites at the end of March. By mid-June this is expected to hit 150BYDBYD, or Build Your Dreams, is often described as the 'Tesla killer', as it is now the largest EV maker in the world.Having first entered the UK car market in 2023, the Chinese brand has expanded rapidly year on year; as of the first quarter of 2026, this sits at around 130 per cent year-on-year growth.BYD has invested in growing its dealer network in a similar way to MG — through partnerships.Arnold Clark, Greenhous Group, Lookers and Vertu are all partners and have helped BYD reach 132 live sites at the end of March. By mid-June this is expected to hit 150.Steve Beattie, deputy country manager for BYD UK, told AM Online: 'I think being a new brand, customers feel confident when one of their local dealers has moved into BYD, because they trust the dealer that they've bought cars from for a long time. 'That helps support the growth.'BYD says its service offering delivers lower long-term repair costs, improved vehicle performance and increased lifespan. Free towing, as part of the roadside breakdown package, is also included.How long are BYD warranties?BYD offers a basic six-year warranty, along with an eight-year battery and drive unit cover. This includes roadside assistance, with on-the-spot repairs and towage covered. Leapmotor has struck a deal with European giant Stellantis and piggybacks onto its extensive UK dealership network across brands like Vauxhall, Citroen and PeugeotLeapmotorLeapmotor is not the largest Chinese brand in the UK, but it's worth including because it is backed by Stellantis, the automotive giant that owns Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroën and Fiat, among others.Leapmotor arrived in the UK in March 2025 and is supported by Stellantis, which owns a 21 per cent stake in the Chinese car company.It is one of the fastest-growing new electric car brands, achieving a 2.2 per cent electric car market share year to date as of April.Leapmotor is supported by the Stellantis & You network, which includes over 800 points of sale and service across Europe.Through the partnership, customers can access sales and aftersales support, often within a 25-minute drive.Stellantis & You says it only uses Leapmotor-approved or genuine parts to service vehicles, and that every car benefits from a complimentary full vehicle health check and free car wash.How long are Leapmotor warranties?Leapmotor offers the shortest warranty, with UK cars coming with a four-year/60,000-mile (whichever comes first) manufacturer warranty. Some models, such as the T03 EV, only come with a three-year/60,000-mile warranty.However, Leapmotor says that, in addition to the manufacturer warranty, all T03 vehicles registered in the UK will receive a one-year top-up cover.However, exclusions to some of the warranties include 'environmental or external damage such as weather.' *Size of dealer and retail networks correct at time of publishing
