A US federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit by AI start-up xAI against competitor OpenAI that claimed OpenAI had misappropriated trade secrets.

The US District Judge Rita Lin dismissed the case for the second time, after previously giving xAI the opportunity to amend its complaint.

The dismissal on Monday did not give xAI leave to amend, ruling xAI had failed to repair the deficiencies of its earlier claim.

The initial complaint, filed in February, argued OpenAI had induced a former xAI senior engineer, Xuechen Li, a Chinese national, to disclose trade secrets.
