Accord further argued that it is not affected by the suit, citing its performance in recent elections and its compliance with constitutional and electoral requirements.

The national leadership of the Accord Party has rejected the recent judgement of the Federal High Court ordering the de-registration of five political parties, including Accord, describing the decision as a violation of a subsisting Court of Appeal order staying proceedings in the matter.

In a statement issued by the party, Accord maintained that the court's ruling was delivered despite the existence of an appellate court order and insisted that it would take immediate legal steps to challenge the judgement.

The party said the decision of the Federal High Court does not represent the final position of the law on the matter, stressing that its legal team has already commenced actions aimed at overturning the ruling.

According to the party, the judgement was handed down while there was a valid and subsisting order of the Court of Appeal staying proceedings, a development it described as a breach of due legal process.
