Anthropic met with senior White House officials at the US Commerce Department on Monday, according to multiple reports, after the company suspended public access to its Claude Fable 5 model on Friday.
The start-up said at the time that the administration had ordered it to halt access to its recently launched Claude 5 model to foreign nationals.
“The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance,” Anthropic stated.
Anthropic said the government was concerned that Fable 5 could be jailbroken to allow it to carry out more sophisticated hacking activities.
