Latvia’s newly appointed Defense Minister Raivis Melnis has expressed support for Ukraine’s right to strike targets in Russia and assured that his country will shoot down any drones that enter its airspace.

He made these remarks to journalists, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

The minister emphasized that Ukraine has the right to defend its country and attack targets on Russian territory.

“We need to build our own air defense system to intercept all drones flying toward Latvia. It is Russia that is sending them to Latvia. We will intercept all drones and support Ukraine in its struggle,” Melnis said.
