After a month in an induced coma, Grammy-nominated singer Bonnie Tyler's team has shared an update on her health.The 75-year-old "Total Eclipse of the Heart" songstress "is no longer in a coma but remains very unwell and in intensive care in hospital in Portugal," her spokesperson said June 15 in an update on her website."Although her condition is improving it is a slow process," the statement continued. "Her doctors remain confident that she will make a good recovery but it is going to take time."On May 8, Tyler's team told fans that she was "put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery" after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery.Bonnie Tyler's summer 2026 concerts are canceled, postponedThe "Holding Out for a Hero" singer had originally planned to perform a series of international shows through December. However, her team confirmed in the June 15 update that she will be unable to take the stage in the coming months, with previously scheduled concerts either canceled or postponed until next year."This will affect every current show until the end of August. At present we are still hopeful that our shows in the autumn will go ahead," her team wrote. "We apologise to all of Bonnie’s fans and to our promoter partners for the disappointment that this will cause but trust that you will understand and bear with us in these difficult circumstances. We hope to see you next year instead."Tyler "is aware of, and very grateful for, your good wishes," the statement added.Before her recent health issues, Tyler told the U.K. magazine Hello! in an interview published March 2 that she was "fit enough at the moment" and "really enjoying doing the shows.""I'm still rocking on that stage with my wonderful band, and if you've got your health, you've got everything," she told the outlet.Since breaking out with her tracks "It's a Heartache" and "Lost in France" in the late 1970s, Tyler has churned out radio hits such as "Holding Out for a Hero" and "Total Eclipse of the Heart," which spent four weeks topping the Billboard Hot 100 after its July 1983 release.Her latest releases are "One World One Home" – a song written for the documentary "Homeless" – and "Only Love," both of which were released in April.In 2023, the Welsh singer — born Gaynor Sullivan — was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire for her services to music during a ceremony at Windsor Castle.
