Shares of banks and other financial institutions rose, but not by as much as the broad market, as stresses in credit markets persisted despite a drop in Treasury yields.

Yields fell, but the policy sensitive two-year yield remains higher for June. Managers of private-credit funds such as Blue Owl and Blackstone rose slightly but pared gains late in the session.
