Donald Trump Jr. effusively praised Georgia gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson in a social media post on Monday, but insisted it was not an endorsement for the rival of President Donald Trump’s pick in the race, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones. The post comes as Jackson and Jones head into a Republican primary runoff election on Tuesday after neither GOP candidate secured more than 50% of the vote in last month’s primary. “Regardless of what happens in the Georgia Governor’s race tomorrow, we should be celebrate the patriots building up MAGA and an America First economy like [Rick Jackson] has,” Trump Jr. said in an X post, noting the healthcare mogul’s work keeping amoxicillin manufacturing in the United States and investing in oil.

Trump Jr.’s post quickly caught users’ attention, who pointed to the fact that his father had endorsed Jackson’s primary challenger. The president’s son clarified that he was only pointing out that both candidates represent Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement.

“Btw this is not an endorsement of Rick and I think [Burt Jones] is a great guy too,” Trump Jr. said in a reply to his initial post. “My only point is that no matter who wins tomorrow, it’s a victory for MAGA.”
