Teammate James Wood isn’t even close to a starting spot in the National League’s outfield.These are the surprising details that came out in the first round of fan voting on Monday afternoon, where Abrams held a slim 12,000-vote lead over Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts in fan voting.Abrams, whose .894 OPS leads NL shortstops, would only be the fifth National to win a fan vote. He has been a significant topic of conversation since the offseason, when several rival clubs inquired about his availability. He and Wood have led the Nationals — the best offense in baseball, as of Monday afternoon — to an ahead-of-schedule 37-35 record.Wood leads National League outfielders in runs, walks, wRC+, OPS and home runs, among several other categories. Andy Pages of the Dodgers, Michael Harris II, Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves and Brandon Marsh of the Philadelphia Phillies all hold at least a 200,000-vote lead over Wood.
