Guwahati: In an exchange of fire between two groups in Manipur's Kangpokpi district on Monday, at least three persons were injured. According to officials, the firing was reported between Konsakhul and Leilon Vaiphei.Konsakhul is predominantly a Naga village while Leilon Vaiphei is a Kuki-dominated village.The injured, all belonging to the Kuki community, were brought to Imphal's Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for treatment by security forces. Tension erupted as protesters objected to admission of the injured youths. Security forces fired teargas shells as protesters attempted to enter the hospital building, officials said.A police officer said, "The exchange of fire continued for several hours." Kuki Inpi Manipur condemned the "bombing" of Leilon Vaiphei. In a statement, the apex body of Kuki tribes alleged that the attack was carried out by the NSCN-IM and its proxy ZUF-K.
