Troops of the Nigerian military, Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma operating in Kebbi State have recovered a large cache of high-calibre weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other logistics equipment following a successful offensive against suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Dandi Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued on Monday by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the operation was carried out on June 14, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to rid the North-West region of terrorism and other criminal activities.

The statement said the troops recorded the feat during a major operation conducted around the Dogon Daji general area of Dandi Local Government Area.

According to the military, "Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA operating in Kebbi State have recovered massive high calibre weapons and improvised explosive devices in a sustained and decisive effort to rid the North-West region of terrorism and criminal elements."

The Army disclosed that during the operation, troops engaged members of the Lakurawa Terrorist Group and brought what it described as "superior firepower" to bear on the terrorists.
