Judge of the Kerala High Court Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas recused himself from hearing a plea that challenged the issuance of censor certificate for the feature film The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond.The plea had also sought the removal of Kerala from the title of the film. When the matter came up for hearing on Monday (June 15, 2026), the court orally observed that the plea had become infructuous. He further preferred to recuse from hearing the plea, citing that he had already taken a view in two other petitions that sought similar relief.The film had been released in February, after a Division Bench passed an interim order that lifted the stay on its release.
