It is the hallmark of the Donald Trump presidency that the absurd and trivial will be linked to things deeply consequential. Yesterday, in honour of his own 80th birthday, Trump was hosting a literal cage fight on the south lawn of the White House. Just as it was about to get underway, he announced an initial peace deal with Iran that will end the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Good news is good news.
