The group recalled that Soludo visited the IPOB leader at the Department of State Services (DSS) facility in Abuja on May 13, 2022, where he publicly called for his release and reportedly offered to stand as surety for him.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has attacked Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, accusing him of hypocrisy, political opportunism, and betrayal over his government's criticism of the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, for demanding the release of imprisoned IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson Emma Powerful, IPOB expressed "utter disgust and righteous anger" over what it termed a "shameful attack" on Obi for reiterating his position that Kanu should be released.

IPOB said Soludo's administration has contradicted the governor's earlier position on Kanu's detention.
