MINNEAPOLIS — The 2026 Minnesota high school baseball state tournament concludes on Monday at Target Field. All four classifications will crown a champion today.High School On SI will update this page with final scores, recaps and live updates throughout the day.Class A ChampionshipNo. 1 Madelia vs. No. 2 Red Lake CountyMadelia won its first state championship with a blowout win against Red Lake County. The Blackhawks scored in all but the third inning while pitcher Tate Becker held Red Lake County to one run in the second inning. Junior right fielder Bryce Borkenhagen had three hits and three RBIs for Madelia. Class AA ChampionshipNo. 3 Glencoe-Silver Lake vs. No. 1 St. Cloud CathedralThe Crusaders scored four runs in the first three innings and never allowed Glencoe-Silver Lake to threaten their lead. The win gives St. Cloud Cathedral its 10th baseball championship. St. Cloud Cathedral senior pitcher Jack Hamak pitched six innings and allowed three hits while striking out five batters. Senior designated hitter Owen Fradette had one hit and two RBIs. Class AAA ChampionshipThe Zephyrs routed the Eagles with a big second inning and shutout pitching from senior Alex Kurpis. The win gives Mahtomedi its second consecutive state championship after they lost in the state championship game in 2023 and 2024. “The kids saw a legacy of baseball played in front of them, and they responded by living up to it,” Mahtomedi head coach Roby Gary said. “They didn’t want to be the group that didn’t get to that next level. I think that’s what impresses me most.”Mahtomedi scored six unearned runs in the second inning against junior Totino-Grace starting pitcher Joey Terhaar. Jake Reubish walked with the bases loaded to give the Zephyrs a 1-0 lead. Then Peyton Whitbeck singled to left field for two RBIs, and the Zephyrs added three more runs when Cody Loida singled to center field with the bases loaded. In the sixth inning, Loida hit a home run that gave the Zephyrs a 10-0 lead. “I think we handled ourselves very well throughout the season in preparing for these times,” Gary said. “We’re meat and potatoes, but today we were rocket ships. We hit before we came today, and I have never seen our guys line them up like they did today.”Regardless, Kurpis anchored the Zephyrs from the mound. He got the start over top prospect and Texas Tech commit Connor Finn. “I wanted to get off to an efficient start defensively,” Gary said. “I wanted to put it on our defense as opposed to the strikeout.”Kurpis finished with five innings pitched, and he allowed only three hits, three walks and struck out seven. “[Kurpis] has three pitches that he throws in the zone, and I don’t think that one of them broke 80,” Gary said. “Getting it in the zone, location and deception, that is the cornerstone of successful pitching.”Class AAAA ChampionshipNo. 4 Rosemount vs. No. 2 Champlin ParkMore from High School On SIAdd us as a preferred source on GoogleFollow
