President Cyril Ramaphosa has urged continued collaboration between government, business and society to open more opportunities for young people, saying inclusive economic growth remains essential for long-term job creation.
President Cyril Ramaphosa says government is scaling up youth employment programmes and economic reforms as South Africa continues to battle high youth unemployment,
He made the remarks in his weekly letter to the nation on Monday, highlighting both progress and ongoing challenges facing young people.
He reflected on the legacy of the 1976 youth uprising, saying it helped open the doors of freedom, while today’s generation must ensure those doors lead to real economic opportunity.
“The youth of South Africa rose up to reject an education system that sought to keep them in servitude and deny them the opportunity to realise their potential,” Ramaphosa said.
